Seann William Scott reveals small amount of money he was paid for playing Stifler in American Pie

Prepare to feel old, or just shocked at how young you must have been when you first watched it, it’s been nearly 25 years since American Pie released in the UK.

Yep, the first of the iconic comedy films landed in our cinemas back in October 1999 becoming the beginning of a legendary franchise.

But despite being such a cult-classic for all these years since, you might be surprised by how much money one of the key stars was paid.

Nope, not the one who played Oz, not Jim, not Stifler’s mum but Stifler himself, Seann William Scott.

Many of us will absolutely agree that the character carried much of American Pie things to his iconic one-liners and well, questionable, sense of humour.

However, it turns out the actor received a relatively small fee for the film gig.

The 47-year-old star opened up about his pay for the first film during a game of ‘Celebrity True or False’ on The Rich Eisen Show.

Scott confirmed that his debut as Stifler earned him just $8,000 (£6,000).

“I think [that’s right], yeah because I remember afterwards I bought a used Thunderbird, for like $5,000 (£3,800), maybe $6,000 (£4,600),” he said, before admitting: “I don’t know what happened to the other two grand.”

While he admitted the pay was ‘a lot of money at the time’ for him, he made it clear it didn’t last long.

Scott went on to reveal the money dwindled fairly quickly as, after wrapping up the 1999 comedy classic, he went to work as a ‘churro guy’ at the LA Zoo to continue bringing in cash as he waited for the film to come out.

He added: “Maybe it was even less than $8,000.”

American Pie later went on to become the blockbuster smash hit we all know it for after raking in a whopping $235.5 million (£178.6m) worldwide.

A number of spin-offs were subsequently added to the franchise including American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion.

Speaking on the YouTube show Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Scott opened up about the possible future of Steve Stifler.

“You know what? I love that character,” he began.

Scott explained that after the last film, which was released in 2012, he felt it was a ‘great bookend’ to the character.

“I didn’t think it’d be fun to play the character again,” he continued.

However, ‘as time went on’ and ‘as the world has changed’, Scott seemed to have a change of heart, adding that he ‘thought that seeing that character today could be really interesting’.

Incredible amount of money Jennifer Aniston was making per season while filming friends

Incredible amount of money Jennifer Aniston was making per season while filming friends

Definitely enough to afford the rent for the famous Friends apartment then

Brenna Cooper

Here is the astronomical amount of money Jennifer Aniston made from her role on Friends.

Aniston, 55, is best known for her role as Rachel Green, one of the six protagonists of the NBC sitcom alongside Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

During the decade Friends was on air, viewers watched as Aniston’s character transform from a sheltered runaway bride to an independent women working in as a waitress at Central Perk before ultimately pursuing her dreams of working in the fashion industry.

Now, living in New York City is not cheap, but thankfully for Aniston her role on the show provided her with more than enough to make a comfortable living.

The exact amount of money Aniston and her co-stars brought in per episode has never been officially confirmed, however, there are numerous reports online providing us with an idea of how much it pays to be a main character on a popular TV series.

Spoiler alert, it’s a lot.

According to an Entertainment Weekly article from 2000, the cast were each paid around $75,000 (£57,225) per episode in the earlier years, which would go up as as the show’s profile – and their star power – increased.

By seasons 7 and 8, the fee is said to have risen to a whopping $750,000 (£572,283) per episode, which isn’t bad at all considering there was 24 episodes in each of the two seasons, meaning the actors would have made around $18,000,000 a season.

Which is certainly enough to comfortably afford the rent of a two bedroom apartment in West Village, which is where Rachel and Monica (Cox) lived for majority of the show.

However, this isn’t the highest salary Aniston and her co-stars were able to negotiate, with the last two seasons of Friends seeing the cast members pull in a massive $1 million (£762,050) per episode, per a report from Forbes.

The major payout caused the actors to earn the title of highest paid TV actors at the time, a record which would only be broken by the main stars of Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory in their final seasons.

These figures don’t factor in money made from royalties and residuals either, which means the cast will still be making money from a show which ended two decades ago.

With a wage like this you’d think that Aniston wouldn’t have to work again, right? However, the actress has since gone on to solidify her star power even further, negotiating a fee of $2 million (£1,982,000) an episode for her more recent series The Morning Show (according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter).

Samantha Clinch was only given a bit-part role in The Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter extra has revealed the shocking amount she’d earned from her time on set.

We all know the main stars behind the franchise, with the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson spearheading the child stars that led the movies to success, but what about all the other kids we see running in the background?

The first Harry Potter film came out in 2001, with hundreds of extras needed to make up the other students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and this can be seen in moments such as the banquet hall scene in The Philosopher’s Stone.

Stars headlining the movie were reportedly getting paid millions, but how much did the extras get paid for their work?

Well, one of the child extras has since taken to TikTok to reveal her earnings while working on the films.

Samantha Clinch is best known as her role of Hogwarts student Eloise Midgen, who is best known for having an unfortunate case of acne in The Goblet of Fire.

She appeared in The Prisoner of Azkaban, the film’s fourth instalment, though only as an extra, before being given a role with a name in The Goblet of Fire.

The actress opened up on her experience on set with a viral video on social media, which currently has over 7.6 million views, and spoke about how much extras got paid for the hours they put in on set.

Known as @samanthaclinch on TikTok, she prefaced the reveal by saying: “Right, let’s talk about how much we got paid as extras for the Harry Potter films and how much I got paid when I became Eloise Midgeon.

“There was a big jump, a big jump in cash.

“For context, in The Goblet of Fire, Daniel Radcliffe got paid $11 million—that’s nine and a half million pounds.”

She said that they would do 12-hour filming days as an extra, starting at 5am, revealing: “We would be called for breakfast to be in the holding area outside the set for 5:00 am in the morning and then be leaving at rush hour, on the bus in heavy, heavy traffic.”

Then she made the big reveal of how much she got for all the hard work: “Are you ready for how much we got paid? £35 a day, £35.

“That’s £2.91 an hour.”

For The Goblet of Fire, however, came a big pay rise.

She added: “So, when I became the part of Eloise Midgen, honestly, little did I know that day, when I was going to set, how the day would change for me and my bank account.

“Before, like my friends, humble extras, we got £35 a day, £2.91 an hour.

“When I got this part, I then got paid £70 a day. They doubled it, they just doubled it.”

Clinch continued to explain: “I mean, really though, in the grand scheme of things, getting paid £2.91 an hour isn’t that bad.

“And there is this constant stream of food—it’s like an all-inclusive!

“Seriously, the amount of Squares bars and iced buns we got through, minimum £15 a day, minimum.”

So, what did she spend her money on?

Well, the former Harry Potter star said that she bought a bottle of Classique perfume by Jean Paul Gaultier, calling it: “Incredible, nostalgia in a bottle. It takes me back.”

She went on to explain in another video that it was ‘genuinely the most incredible time of my life’, while revealing that all the kids actually ate their meals in the banquet hall.

The star opened up about his salary for the cult classic comedy

Earlier this month (9 July), marked 24 years since American Pie was released in theaters in the U.S. – which would later go on to be a franchise that changed comedy as we know it forever.

The flick, which is still a cult classic after more than two decades, can attribute a lot of its success to one particular character who has gone down in cinematic history – Steve Stifler.

However, many were shocked to find out that Seann William Scott, the actor behind the legendary character, was only paid $8,000 for the American Pie role.

Seann William Scott rose to fame for playing the iconic Steve Stifler on American Pie.

Whether it was his side-splitting one-liners, razor-sharp wit or just an incredibly dodgy sense of humour – many fans of the franchise can agree Stifler pretty much carried the whole thing.

So, it makes it somewhat hard to believe just how little Scott received for the gig.

The 46-year-old star opened up about his pay for the first film during a game of Celebrity True or False on The Rich Eisen Show.

During his interview on the show, Scott confirmed that his debut as Stifler earned him just $8,000 (£6,700).

“I think [that’s right], yeah because I remember afterwards I bought a used Thunderbird, for like $5,000 (£4,200), maybe $6,000 (£5,040),” he said, before admitting: “I don’t know what happened to the other two grand.”

While he admitted the pay was ‘a lot of money at the time’ for him, he made it clear it didn’t last long.

Scott went on to reveal the money dwindled fairly quickly as, after wrapping up the 1999 comedy classic, he went to work as a ‘churro guy’ at the LA Zoo to continue bringing in money as he waited for the film to come out.

He added: “Maybe it was even less than $8,000.”

American Pie later went on to become the blockbuster smash hit we all know it for after raking in a whopping $235.4 million (£196.9m) worldwide.

A number of spin-offs were subsequently added to the franchise including American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion.

Scott only received $8,000 for the iconic Stifler role.

That’s for sure.

American Pie star Tara Reid has hit back at people who mock what she looks like today

American Pie star Tara Reid has hit back at people who mock what she looks like today

Tara Reid has grown tired of the chit chat about her appearance

Joshua Nair

Tara Reid, best known for her role as Vicky Lathum in the American Pie series, has opened up about developing a ‘thicker skin’ in the wake of criticism over her looks.

The American actress was one of the ‘it’ girls of the iconic ’90s-’00s era, appearing in a number of popular films such as Cruel intentions, Van Wilder, The Big Lebowski and Josie and the Pussycats, to name a few.

After finding widespread Hollywood success aged just 22, Reid celebrated like any actor in their early 20s would: hard.

She became one of the definitive sex symbols of her time through her roles and was one of the most scrutinised celebrities in the industry.

With scrutiny though, comes controversy, and the actress started to make headlines for all the wrong reasons, with her entertainment career slowly petering out as she became the host of a reality TV show called Taradise, on E!.

By 2008, she had entered rehab for problems with alcohol, as she told People magazine that she had ‘done enough [partying] for a lifetime.’

It looks like she is experiencing something of a resurgence in pop culture though, as she admitted ‘the ‘90s are coming back right now’ in an interview with Bustle.

The aesthetic, the appreciation of culture at the time, as well as film and TV from the period feels like it’s loved now more than other, and much of the younger generation is discovering Reid for the first time.

But it was her inclusion in Fox reality quasi-military training television series Special Forces that really hit home, as problems from her past became irrelevant for her after the support she received from fans.

In her prime, she made the cover of US Weekly, with a story called ‘My Plastic Surgery Nightmare’, detailing how the cosmetic work done on her was botched.

It was just the start of the onslaught from the media about her looks, which people continued to call out and criticise.

During her appearance on Special Forces, she explained: “Everyone says, ‘She got so old looking, she looks bad, she looks like sh*t.’ And just this s**t that goes on social media,” before describing herself as a ‘broken bird’.

But now, following the positive reaction, the 48-year-old admitted: “I’ve never felt so much love and support in my life.”

Reid said that she went on the show to get a ‘thicker skin’, growing tired of the talk around her appearance, but powerfully stated: “I feel fine in my body. It’s just no one else does.”

Her own friend, American radio host Billy Bush, told her last October that she was ‘too skinny’, but the actress went on to explain that the support of the public has helped her get over the issue.

The star is no longer looked at as a fallen 00s celeb, but rather a survivor, as Special Forces show-runner Becky Clarke opened up about the star.

“We’ve all got scars, haven’t we? We’ve all suffered the highs and the lows. And that’s what Tara represents. I think people — and particularly women of a certain age — tuned in wanting to find out about her and connect. Because she’s real.

“She came not to just prove to people that there was more to her than the tabloid tale. She came for herself,” Clarke stated.
