All Day Long The Dying Dog Was Calling For Help! But No One Helped!

On April 16, Leo, a missing dog, was discovered in a heartbreaking state—wrapped in duct tape and discarded in a dumpster, a cruel attempt to ensure he had no chance. The Nebraska Humane Society appealed for help in identifying the perpetrator of this horrific act. An Omaha accounting firm’s employees found Leo after hearing sounds from their office dumpster on April 14. Initially mistaking the noises for a raccoon, they were shocked to find Leo trapped. His legs were bound, his tail taped, and debris matted in his fur.

Kevin Wiederin from the firm expressed deep dismay, calling it the worst thing he’d witnessed. Aaron O’Connell, through a pet charity, brought a rescue dog home as the firm contacted Animal Control. Officers carefully freed Leo and took him to the Nebraska Humane Society, where staff diligently removed the duct tape and cleaned him up. Leo, once sedated, perked up and wagged his tail post-procedure, showing resilience despite his ordeal.

Leo’s microchip led rescuers to his owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, who had reported him missing days earlier. Relieved and distressed by Leo’s mistreatment, Erin joyously reunited with her beloved pet, who now sports a shorter haircut but is otherwise healthy. Erin described Leo as the world’s cutest dog and questioned why anyone would harm him. Unfortunately, the isolated location where Leo was abandoned lacked surveillance.

Leo’s story highlights both the worst in humanity and the compassion that can restore faith. Through love and care, Leo is now safe at home, cherished more than ever by his grateful family.
