The Day She Came to Me Was Like the End of the World and She Was Reborn from the Ashes

You can’t imagine how Valentina came to me. That day felt like the end of the world. She was a dog of neglect and lack of love. Although I was very optimistic about the rescue, there were moments when I thought it wouldn’t work. I woke up at dawn, checking every two hours to see if she was still alive. Every time I approached her, my heart would pound. Waking up in the morning felt like a new beginning in Valentina’s life. She was fine, no fever or other changes.

She ate so much, it seemed like she had never eaten before. She was treated, bathed with shampoo and scabies medicine. I resolved to care for Valentina with all the love in the world. I noticed that Valentina’s skin was starting to deteriorate a little, but it didn’t feel itchy or uncomfortable. I took her to the vet, and the doctor suggested extending her medication.

Two days later, her skin was much worse after taking Bravecto. I took her to the doctor again, and he believed her skin was unbalanced due to her weak resistance. Valentina had developed a serious condition, leading to an infection. Despite this, she ate well, took her medicine, and slept like a “little angel.”

Valentina gained 1 kg in 7 days, and her skin improved significantly. The results of the test for leishmaniasis were negative. Watching this transformation filled me with warmth and hope. Our little Valentina was reborn from the ashes. She became smarter and crazier, ready to play with other dogs. She clung to me all day; just 10 minutes without hearing my voice would make her start crying.

Seeing her recovery and newfound energy has been incredibly rewarding. Valentina’s journey from neglect to a loving, playful companion has been a testament to the power of care and compassion.
