In the unforgiving embrace of the chilly snow, a small and innocent dog lay trembling with pain and fear. At just a year old, he couldn’t fathom the reasons behind the brutal treatment he endured. Covered in cuts and bruises, he lay sobbing and utterly motionless, with maggots beginning to feast on his frail and lifeless body. A kind woman found him, wrapping him in an old dress and fervently praying for his life as she brought him to us.
Thanks to her, we implored him to hold on just a little longer, urging him to bear the pain until daybreak. His name was Lunka. X-rays revealed a bullet in his spine, likely buckshot, explaining his perpetual sadness and quiet demeanor. His helpless state, unable to even crawl, painted a grim picture.
Despite the prognosis that Lunka would never fully recover due to traumatic spinal cord damage, we started rehabilitation. Today was a significant milestone as specialists gave Lunka a full massage, including physical therapy exercises aimed at preserving muscle tone and developing motor skills. His journey was not easy, but with determination and hard work, he improved day by day.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Lunka endured a long period of therapy, demonstrating remarkable bravery and resilience. After 150 challenging days, he finally achieved the impossible – running and hopping on his own two feet. Lunka became a symbol of survival, a testament to the power of love and compassion. He would never forget the generosity that saved his life, and he would forever be a reminder that with care and determination, miracles are possible.
