This puppy cried when he was abandoned on a deserted hill with few visitors. He was afraid and confused when his owner left him there, feeling utterly lonely. The puppy didn’t know where to go or what to do, so waiting was all he could manage. His eyes were full of hope when he saw me, but he sat there and watched, too scared to move. He was very thin, and his skin was peeling. Without help, he faced a grim fate.
Fortunately, a mountain biker spotted him and called me. Three hours later, we took this little pup to the vet. He was terrified and didn’t dare to leave the safety of the vet’s office. His health was in serious condition. His skin was rough, scaly, and wrinkled, his eyes were swollen and sore, and his entire body was covered in ticks. This wasn’t just a recent issue; it had clearly been ongoing for some time.
We applied medicine to ease his discomfort, and he started feeling more comfortable and less itchy. Despite his wrinkled skin, he was only about three months old, which suggested he had been neglected from birth. We worried about his mother, wondering if she was missing him. A mother dog usually watches her pups closely, making it unlikely for them to stray.
The puppy’s recovery would be long, but after just a few days, his mood began to change. He became interested in everything around him, and his fear slowly faded. Still, he didn’t dare venture far without looking to me for reassurance. Encouraged, he finally felt safe enough to explore. One day, he heard something in the distance and ran towards me, seeing me as his new mother. The weather was beautiful that day, and we enjoyed it together.
Love and care were new to him, but these would be the keys to his recovery. Amber, as we named him, began to improve. His skin healed, and his nutrition improved. However, one day, Amber couldn’t walk and cried in pain. The doctors performed tests and x-rays, revealing gastritis. They stabilized his condition, and the pain soon decreased.
Though he was initially reluctant to eat standing up, he gradually improved. His skin healed almost completely, and fine hair began to grow back. We started planning to find a loving family for Amber, hoping his dreams would finally come true.
