Gruelling diet and routine 50 Cent had to follow as part of extreme transformation that people can’t believe was him 50 Cent’s transformation was for a 2011 film

50 Cent had to follow a gruelling routine in order to complete a huge transformation for a movie.

Released in 2011, All Things Fall Apart saw the rapper – real name Curtis Jackson – play the lead role of Deon, a college football player whose career dreams are shattered after learning he has a rare genetic condition.

The film is said to be based off of a childhood friend of 50 Cent, who tragically died of cancer.

Deon then spends the rest of the movie learning to adjust to life with cancer while also trying to accept his new future.

The film may have received mixed reviews upon release, sitting with an overall score of 58 percent on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, however fans were left stunned by the star’s unrecognisable body transformation.

In order to get into character, 50 Cent made sure to fully commit to the part in bringing Deon to life.

Over the process of filming All Things Fall Apart, the rapper would lose 54 lbs (24.5kg) in just nine weeks.

In order to drop from 214 pounds to 160, the 49-year-old went on a strict liquid diet and spent three hours a day running on a treadmill.

However, this isn’t the first time 50 Cent has undergone a liquid diet, with the rapper revealing that his weight previously went to 157 during recovery after being shot in the jaw in 2000.

Comparing the two experiences, Jackson said in an interview with Associated Press: “This time it was a lot tougher for me.”

He continued: “I had to discipline myself not … to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt. It’s a passion project for me.”

The ‘Many Men’ hitmaker isn’t the only actor to have put their body through such an extreme transformation for his work, with Christian Bale losing 63lbs (28.5kg) for his role in The Machinist.

In fact, 50 Cent even used Bale’s weight loss experience, as well as stories from actors such as Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro and Renée Zellweger, as inspiration to stay motivated.

“I actually got on the computer when it started getting difficult,” he recalled.

“I was looking to see what their experience was like and I got a chance to see all of the interviews they had at different time periods when they were doing promotion for the projects.”

After filming finished, 50 Cent told fans he’d be ‘back in shape in no time’ and ready to go on tour.

While his work in All Things Fall Apart may have not won him any awards, his dedication to the role certainly didn’t hurt his work as an actor.

50 Cent has since gone on to star in Southpaw alongside Jake Gyllenhaal as well as featuring in the Power TV series.

50 Cent says Eminem doesn’t get enough credit for his impact on hip-hop

50 Cent says Eminem doesn’t get enough credit for his impact on hip-hop

Fiddy has reflected on Slim Shady’s career and said he helped shift the culture of the genre.

50 Cent believes Eminem doesn’t get enough credit for his impact on hip-hop culture.

While the genre might be known for its high-profile rivalries, it’s nice to see Em receive praise from another hip-hop mogul.

During an interview on the podcast Ebro In The Morning, the ‘In da Club’ rapper reflected on Em’s career in the wake of his 50th birthday.

He said: “I don’t think that they give Em the credit that he deserves.

“Because, in order for people to embrace something, they have to see where they fit in.”

While many white rappers have broken into the mainstream today, the 47-year-old noted how Eminem was initially perceived as an outsider when he emerged onto the music scene,

Fiddy, who also shared the stage with Eminem during this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, continued: “I think part of Eminem’s legacy is the growth of our culture.

“People wouldn’t buy it if they didn’t see where they fit into it.

“And he’s there and he’s a legitimate artist because of his journey.

“When you look at 8 Mile, you’re seeing a Black story with a white lead. You seeing poverty, you’re seeing [similar] circumstances. Look at his friends Proof and D-12 and everybody: these are real hip hop guys. Which is why he’s a real hip hop guy.”

Kay Blake/ZUMA Wire/Alamy

Earlier this year, Eminem sat down with XXL Magazine to celebrate the outlet’s 25th anniversary and addressed the criticism he’s faced in the genre.

The artist said he was merely a ‘guest coming into the house’ at the beginning of his career.

He said: “I understood, at the same time, everybody’s perception of a white guy coming into hip hop and all of a sudden things start happening for him… Obviously, I was upset, and it wasn’t just magazines.”

The musician added that fellow rappers he climbed the ranks with proceeded to ‘take shots’ at him during the early days.

However, Eminem’s legacy can’t be denied as he is among the best-selling artists of all time, with a whopping estimated worldwide sales of over 220 million records.

The musician has also earned 15 Grammy awards, an Academy Award for ‘Best Original Song’ and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Not bad for 50.

People can't believe how ripped Uncle Albert was in Only Fools and Horses

Uncle Albert was hench

Only Fools and Horses remains one of the biggest sitcoms in television history.

It’s kind of a rite of passage for every Brit to have seen Del fall through the bar or the Trotters don their cape and tights to take on Peckham’s criminal underworld.

But one thing that passed most of us by at the time is just how ripped Uncle Albert was.

The World War Two vet – played by Buster Merryfield – came into the series back in 1985, starring as Del and Rodney’s long lost uncle, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

And now, a couple of saucy snaps of Albert from the show have started doing the rounds on social media and sent pulses racing.

In said photos, the character can be seen wearing a white string vest, his pecs fighting to get out.

Uncle Albert was swole.

Sharing the pics to X, one user asked: “Is it just me or is Uncle Albert f**king hench?”

At first, some questioned the veracity of the images, suggesting they’d been photoshopped. But they hadn’t, Uncle Al was just seriously swole… and people are loving it.

One user said: “Probably would’ve.”

Another commented: “You may not like it but Uncle Albert is what peak performance looks like.”

“Ha ha I noticed this on my latest rewatch of Only Fools. Uncle Albert? Uncle Swolebert more like!” quipped a third.

While yet another admirer added: “Please tell me this is a photoshop.”

But it looks like Merryfield was a bit of a fitness fanatic, and kept himself in peak condition well into his 60s.

According to his Wikipedia page – so to be taken with a rather large pinch of salt – the actor was a keen sportsman in his youth and followed a strict fitness regime.

His page reads: “He followed a strict fitness regime of daily press-ups and swimming sessions.

“As a boxer, he was a British schoolboy champion in the 1936 and Southern Command army champion in 1945.

Wowzers trousers, Uncle Al.

BBC

“He was also an amateur football player and Millwall supporter, regularly attending games at the Old Den.

“In contrast to his pipe-smoking and rum-drinking character Uncle Albert, Merryfield was a teetotaler and nonsmoker his entire life.”

Merryfield passed away in 1999, aged 78.

Speaking at the time, David Jason, who played Del Boy in the show, said: “Buster Merryfield is a great loss personally as well, of course, to his family and the rest of the country.

“He was a great man and a joy to work with and I will seriously miss him both as a friend and as an actor.”

While his on screen brother, Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhust, said: “I was shocked and saddened to hear of Buster’s death.

“He was a gentle, sweet-natured man and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He made the part of Uncle Albert a national institution.”

People can't believe real accent of actor who plays Martha in Baby Reindeer

People can’t believe real accent of actor who plays Martha in Baby Reindeer

Jessica Gunning plays Martha in the hit series

Sitting as the number one show on Netflix for a decent chunk of time now, people are absolutely loving Baby Reindeer.

Viewers have been left speechless by the miniseries which is based on creator Richard Gadd’s harrowing true story.

Following his ‘warped relationship’ with his female stalker of six years, the show also features the comedian as the fictionalised version of himself, Donny Dunn.

Alongside him is Jessica Gunning as Martha, who Gadd changed the name of to protect his real stalker’s identity, although that hasn’t stopped viewers from attempting to track her down online – something the creator has issued a plea against.

Gunning has also spoken about her hope that if the woman does watch Baby Reindeer, her approach to the character won’t ‘be taken away as an insult’.

“It was hopefully a multifaceted portrayal of somebody going through a lot in their life. I think the response to that final scene hopefully shows that people don’t view her as all bad or as a villain,” she told Dazed.

But while many viewers have praised her performance as Martha, others cannot believe her real accent isn’t the same as in the show.

The 38-year-old has a career on both stage and screen, and has previously appeared in the likes of Doctor Who, Law & Order: UK, White Heat, The Outlaws and Trollied.

Appearing on Lorraine recently, many viewers realised for the first time that Gunning is not actually from Scotland like her character.

During the chat, host Lorraine Kelly spoke football with Gadd, but she was taken aback by the star’s voice.

Gunning, who is from West Yorkshire, chimed in with a distinct accent as Kelly said: “You obviously sound so different!”

The host was amazed by her accent in Baby Reindeer, admitting that she truly believed it.

“Can I say as a Scottish person – and we are both Scottish people [gesturing to Richard] – cracking accent. I honestly thought you were Scottish.”

As Gunning thanked her, Kelly continued: “And you speaking like that, it’s like ‘wow! Is Jessica talking funny?’ It’s amazing.”

And fans online were just as amazed, writing on X: “Cannot believe Jessica Gunning is not Scottish!!! Her accent is perfect. Amazing acting.”

Another wrote: “Baby Reindeer is absolutely insane and props to Jessica Gunning for a better Scottish accent than most Scottish tv actors.”

One also said: “Jessica Gunning’s accent is fantastic. I can count on one hand how many actors have nailed a Scottish accent.”

As others put: “Everyone should watch #BabyReindeer. Plus, aside from the phenomenal writing and acting I’m very impressed by Jessica Gunning’s believable Scottish accent!”

Baby Reindeer is available to watch on Netflix.

Baby Reindeer fact vs fiction

While Baby Reindeer is based on a true story, many viewers have been left questioning which parts were fabricated for the Netflix show.

We’ve separated the facts from the fiction.

How Donny and Martha met

In Baby Reindeer, Gadd’s character Donny offers Martha a free drink after feeling sorry for her when she said she couldn’t afford one.

This is true as Gadd’s seemingly harmless act of kindness quickly snowballed into a shocking turn of events.

The amount of emails

Gadd’s stalker sent him 41,071 emails, 350 hours of voicemail, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages and 106 pages of letters over four-and-a-half years.

In real life, she also sent him a variety of strange gifts, including a reindeer toy, sleeping pills, a woolly hat and boxers.

Sent from my iPhone

Netflix confirmed that every email Donny receives in the show is real, all of which end with ‘sent from my iPhone‘ – despite the fact she didn’t have an iPhone and wasn’t emailing from one.

When the police intervened

In the series, Donny wasn’t taken seriously when he initially reported Martha to the police.

According to Gadd, it was six years before they finally intervened.

Which details were fiction?

Gadd has spoken about how some details of the show have been changed to protect identities of those involved.

He explained that ‘Martha’ had been disguised to such an extent that he doesn’t think she’d ‘recognise herself’.

It’s also unclear whether the real-life Martha went to prison.

In Baby Reindeer, she was sentenced to nine months in prison and given a five-year restraining order.

Though Gadd told The Times the stalking issue has been ‘resolved’, adding that he ‘mixed feelings about it’ because he ‘didn’t want to throw someone who was that level of mentally unwell in prison’.

GoT fans can't believe Pedro Pascal hasn't learnt from brutal death scene after watching Gladiator 2 trailer

GoT fans can’t believe Pedro Pascal hasn’t learnt from brutal death scene after watching Gladiator 2 trailer

Game of Thrones fans have noticed something in the new Gladiator 2 trailer which has them concerned

Michael Slavin

Watching the Gladiator 2 trailer, I’m sure we all had so many emotions, with the film looking absolutely incredible.

Paul Mescal, Pedro PascalDenzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, the list of incredible stars in this film just goes on and on and on.

If you’re like me, however, you thought one specific thing when watching the trailer.

Oh god I’m not ready to see Pedro Pascal in a colosseum.” (Yes, Pascal may not have died in Game of Thrones in a colosseum per say, stop being pedantic).

For those not in the know, Pascal rose to prominence as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, a charismatic and sexy smooth talker whose sole goal was to kill Lannister henchman The Mountain.

This opportunity was handed to him in the form of a trial by combat representing Tyrion Lannister.

As many of us know, it did not end well.

Namely, The Mountain popped his eyes right out of his skull.

Whilst he may be playing a villainous Roman general in this film, with Paul Mescal playing a heroic gladiator hellbent on revenge against him, I still don’t think I can see his eyes being popped out of his head again.

One thing that fans have noticed, however, is that he doesn’t seem to have learnt his lesson from that fateful encounter.

A fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) said: “Why is pedro not wearing a helmet?? didn’t he learn from his GOT days.”

Another said: “Pedro still not wearing a helmet in an arena” with a facepalm emoji.

One fan posted a depressed GIF with the caption: “Watching Pedro Pascal go into another arena battle once again with no helmet.”

Whilst he may not be getting his eyes poked in again in Gladiator 2 (though we never know), Game of Thrones isn’t the only time the actor has had his eyes poked in.

The Last of Us and Narcos star has previously stated that the grisly death scene meant that fans always had one specific request when they took a picture with him early on.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I remember, earlier on, because of Game of Thrones and the way my character died… people were super into taking selfies with their thumbs in my eyes.

“At first, I was so earnest and happy about the success of the character in the show, I’d let them!

“Then I remember getting a bit of an eye infection.”

The fact he ever let anyone do that is sweet enough if you ask me.

Here’s hoping another wave of those pictures don’t happen because his character in Gladiator 2 doesn’t look prepared for another eye poking incident…
