Rumours that the legendary band Oasis are going to get back together haven’t exactly been calmed by Liam Gallagher on social media.

The Times reported that Liam and Noel ‘appear to have settled their differences’ and if they can keep things cordial they’re set to ‘play massive concerts in London and at Manchester’s Heaton Park in 2025’.

This would be every Oasis fan’s dream, with the brothers having not performed on stage together since 2009.

At the moment, The Times is putting it down to ‘industry insiders’ who say the Gallagher brothers have got plans for an Oasis reunion and will get back to performing together next year.

In the past, the chances of a reunion had been ruled out, but in more recent times, the talk of Liam and Noel about each other hasn’t been quite so harsh.

In a recent interview marking the 30th anniversary of Oasis debut album Definitely Maybe, Noel said some rather nice things about Liam with particular emphasis on his brother’s singing voice.

He said: “When I would sing a song, it would sound good. When he sung it, it sounded great.

“I can’t sing ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’, ‘Rock’n’Roll Star’ and all that. I don’t have the same attitude as him.

“My voice is half a Guinness on a Tuesday — it’s all right. Liam’s is ten shots of tequila on a Friday.”

It’s a bit of a departure from previous comments in past years where he said he ‘can’t stand’ his brother’s voice, and said he was ‘bang up’ for a reunion as long as they were holograms.

Noel further complimented Liam, saying: “What he did was inspire the kids at the front to do something, do you know what I mean? ‘If he can do it, I can do it.’ And he’s still doing that now.”

Liam, meanwhile, has been on social media replying to people’s questions about whether a reunion is happening or not.

To one person commenting on The Times story who said that Heaton Park was a ‘terrible venue for concerts’, he said ‘see you down the front you big fanny’.

“You got a crystal ball c**ty b******s,” was his response to someone else commenting on the claims that an Oasis reunion might be happening who said it would ‘last about five seconds’.

If you’re wondering when to be on the lookout next, someone who asked Gallagher when we could expect to see some dates for the reunion was told ‘Nxt Friday’.

However, don’t get your hopes up too much as the Oasis man also tweeted ‘your winding yourselfs up I’ve said NOTHING’, though declined the opportunity to say a reunion wasn’t happening when someone asked him.

It was the latest in a line of compliments the brothers have paid each other amidst reports that they’re getting the band back together.

Both Noel and Liam have teased the date ‘27.08.24’ on social media, and the same message appeared at the end of a Blossoms concert in Manchester.

Presumably that means something is happening tomorrow, one day before the date that would have marked 15 years since Oasis split up.

Reports claim that it’s going to be an Oasis reunion, with the band supposedly set to play at Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park next year.

According to The Sun, a ‘late night phone call’ between Noel and Liam had them ‘on the same page’ about bringing Oasis back, and if they do make that comeback, it’ll be welcomed by music fans across the country.

The band’s history is certainly a tumultuous one, with them splitting up in 2009 after it was announced that they wouldn’t be performing at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

Throughout the lifespan of Oasis, there had been a number of incidents involving Noel and Liam, including the Wibbling Rivalry – an interview between the pair which ended up getting released on vinyl.

Someone even once auctioned off a cricket bat which they said Noel had used to hit Liam, and over the years there were lots of arguments.

In the months before the Rock en Seine festival on 28 August, 2009, Noel had called Liam ‘the angriest man you’ll ever meet’ and said that ‘life would be easier without Oasis’.

On 23 August of that year, the band dropped out of performing at V Festival as Liam was suffering from laryngitis, Noel would later claim it was actually due to a hangover and apologised for saying that after legal action from Liam.

Five days later, the Rock en Seine festival was on and a backstage argument before Oasis was due to go out and perform meant the show did not go on.

A couple of hours later Noel released the following statement: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

A couple of years later, he told Absolute Radio: “If I had my time again I would have gone back and done the gig.

“I’d have done that gig and I’d have done the next gig and we’d have all gone away and we could have probably discussed it. We may never have split up.”

Since then, both brothers pursued successful solo careers and there’s occasionally been talk of a reunion, with Liam tweeting ‘let’s get the big O back together’ in 2018.

At various times they’ve said a reunion is not happening or an offer to get the band back together has gone unanswered.

After about 15 years away, it looks like Noel and Liam Gallagher have managed to soothe their feud and get cracking with an Oasis reunion.

There were already some big clues pointing towards a comeback following various reports that the Gallagher brothers were putting the band back together.

And if you’re hoping for something a bit more official then tomorrow morning might be the time, since the band’s social media account posted a 10 second clip of a plaque bearing the date ‘27.08.24’ and then on saying ‘8am’.

Both Liam and Noel have posted the same thing too, so it really looks like there’s some co-ordination going on.

The same teaser had been shown at the end of a Blossoms gig last night (25 August) so it’s going to be all eyes on tomorrow morning to see the concrete details of what they’ve got for us.

According to the Sunday Times, Oasis are getting back together and will play 10 nights at Wembley Stadium as well as a number of gigs at Heaton Park in Manchester.

The Manchester Evening News has since reported that tickets could go on sale as soon as within the next week, and the local paper says that they’d be ‘priced over the £100 mark’.

They also reported that in addition to playing Wembley and Heaton Park, there may also be some shows up in Scotland in Murrayfield.

Given the reaction to all of these teasers about something happening with Oasis people would be queueing round the door to pay that and see the band back on stage again.

There’ll be plenty of fans checking to see if their old Oasis t-shirt still fits them and loads are surely just waiting for the announcement that tickets are on sale to drop before rushing online to try and get some for themselves.

Ahead of a set at Rock en Seine festival on 28 August, 2009 in Paris, an argument broke out between the brothers. Reports of what happened backstage vary, however the row would lead to Noel getting into a car, leaving the venue and making the monumental decision to quit the band.

He would put out a statement a few hours later which read: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Despite appearing the regret his actions in an interview with Absolute Radio years later, Noel would go on to say that he believed the shock split helped cement Oasis’ status as one of the great British bands.

Speaking on Sky Arts’ 2021 programme Noel Gallagher: Out Of The Now, the musician, 57 recalled the impact of the 2009 break-up and said ‘with the benefit of hindsight it was the best thing for me and for the band’.

“I’d written every meaningful song that was ever recorded by Oasis. And it was my life, I directed it and creatively it was my thing. With the benefit of hindsight it was the best thing for me and for the band,” he explained.

“Because the band now, Oasis back in 2009 were not lauded as one of the greats of all time. There was a kind of undercurrent of, ‘well they should really call it a day’. That’s what I felt anyway.”

He continued: “I felt that people had stopped listening to the records and were coming to see us trot out the hits, and it’s a position I never wanted the band to be in. But now, of course, we’re seen as up there with all the greats.”

Despite a fair amount of frosty words over the years, it seems like the brothers are now on better terms again, with Liam even dedicating Oasis classic ‘Half the World Away’ to Noel during his Reading set last night (25 August).

Both brothers and the official Oasis social media accounts have also shared a cryptic 27.08.24 post which has sent fans into a frenzy.
