Duncan, a 12-year-old boy who got lost in a junkyard one day, slid under a dumpster and laid down, feeling tired and hopeless. Someone who worked there saw him down there and quickly got him something to eat and drink. The worker could see that Duncan was blind and in bad shape. Her boss wanted to call animal control, but the worker knew that Duncan wouldn’t stay at a public shelter for long. Instead, she called a relief group right away.
Hope for Paws went to the dump to save Duncan when she got the call about him. Even though the rescuers offered him more food, the poor old dog was so lost and confused that they knew they had to get him out of there right away.
Duncan didn’t fight when they put a leash around his neck. He let them slowly pull him out from under the trash because he was old, blind, and sick.
Once Duncan was free, they could see how badly he had been ignored. He wore a rope around his neck to show that someone used to be in charge of him but let him down
Duncan let his protectors pet and love on him in the car on the way to the vet. It may have been years since he had been petted and loved.
People who saved Duncan kept telling him, “I’m sorry to whoever did this to you, I’m so sorry,” in a video of his escape.
According to Duncan’s caretakers, the doctor told them that he was blind and also had an illness on his skin, ulcers, and two different tumours. Doctors said that Duncan should be put down to end his pain, but the people who saved him decided that this was not how he should die.
